We can’t wait to see you on November 28 at the seventh annual Turkey Trail Challenge! Started in 2018, the Turkey Trail Challenge offers a post-Thanksgiving adventure that encourages movement and exploration around The Dawes Arboretum with the bonus of fun prizes for reaching goals. This year, your generous food donation can help others have a meal as well.
In the spirit of the holiday season, The Arboretum will be offering admission to this event in exchange for a donation that will be given to local food pantries. Visitors on November 28 who bring at least three non-perishable food items per car will be welcomed with no charge and can participate in the challenge or enjoy the grounds for the day. Food items collected will be distributed to the following local food pantries: Jacksontown Food Pantry, The Food Pantry Network of Licking County and Clintonville-Beechwood Resource Center.
The most requested items include:
- Soups with vegetables
- Canned fruit and vegetables
- Rice and pasta
- After-school snacks
- Peanut butter and jelly
- Boxed entrees
- Applesauce cups
- Personal care items
- Grocery store gift cards
Our collection window for the entire food drive will begin on November 26 and close on December 19. Donations can be dropped off inside the gift shop in our Visitors Center. However, for November 28 only, non-perishable goods will be collected at the gate in exchange for admission!
This is a great way to support families in your community this season and join us in our efforts to fight hunger. Any contribution is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
