Did you know that The Dawes Arboretum exists today due to a planned gift in 1929 from our founders Beman and Bertie Dawes?
You have the power to help The Arboretum secure its future by leaving your own legacy and supporting our mission of enriching lives through the conservation of trees, nature and history. By making a planned gift to The Arboretum, you will become a member of our exclusive Roots Club.
Roots Club members receive an invitation to the Bur Oak Dinner and other Roots Club member events, acknowledgment in the Annual Report and a specialty gift item.
There are a few different types of gifts.
- Wills take care of loved ones and the causes you support. You have the freedom and flexibility to change at any time. If you are interested in a restricted gift, please contact our Development Department to ensure they can fill your wishes.
- You can name The Arboretum as a beneficiary (primary or contingent) on your life insurance policy. You have the freedom and flexibility to change this at any time. Policy payments are the responsibility of the donor.
- Dawes can receive assets without tax obligation due to its nonprofit status like assets from an IRA, 401k, 403b, pension or other tax deferred plan.
- Depending on the situation, real estate is another form of gift. The Arboretum cannot administrate life income gifts but recommends donors work with their financial institution and name The Arboretum as a beneficiary of such assets.
If you’re curious about making a planned gift, please save the date for Tuesday, May 19 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. to learn more about the Roots club, explore the different options available and see how these gifts can help sustain The Arboretum’s work for generations to come.
Please let us know if you’re interested in making a planned gift to The Arboretum by reaching out to us at development@dawesarb.org or by calling 740.323.2355.
