Are you curious about how to find a Tree Dedication on Arboretum Explorer? Arboretum Explorer is The Dawes Arboretum’s fascinating tool that allows curious minds all around the world to virtually travel our grounds and view the almost 13,000 plants we host at Dawes.

Over 100 trees are Tree Dedications within those 13,000. Tree Dedications are chosen by The Board of Trustees to “honor individuals or groups of outstanding achievement in the stream of human history, or events of significance to The Arboretum.” Tree Dedication began as planting  new trees each time a new person was dedicated but transformed  into carefully selecting trees that are already showing promise of a healthy and long life.

To find these trees digitally, use the tool: Arboretum Explorer. To search for these trees:

  1. Go to Arboretum Explorer
  2. Click on ‘Features’
  3. Click ‘Tree Dedicators’ on the dropdown menu ‘Type’
  4. Search for specific individuals, or view the whole collection
