Did you know that The Dawes Arboretum’s first-ever newsletter debuted 57 years ago? The print publication was produced monthly and featured stories and news about The Arboretum – answering questions like: What were the first maple syrup tours like? When did The Arboretum start accepting credit cards? Who was nominated for a Peabody award from The Arboretum? When did The Arboretum get WiFi?

The Arboretum’s history team is excited to announce that these historical newsletters, which stopped being produced in 2021, are now available in our Digital Archive! The Digital Archive is a fascinating place on our website where visitors can find a plethora of digital historical artifacts like letters, postcards, telegrams, envelopes and now the entire newsletter collection from 1968 to 2021!

To find the collection of newsletters, type the keywords “The Dawes Arboretum Newsletter Collection” in the Digital Archive’s keyword search using quotations.

The Arboretum continues to digitally send out a newsletter on the first of every month that includes an overview of our events, stories from The Arboretum’s blog and any important updates we think our supporters should know about. If you’re interested in signing up for that newsletter, please subscribe here.

If you have any questions about how to use the Digital Archive, please reach out to our History Department through email at daweshistory@dawesarb.org, or use our History Request form, which you can find here
