On May 28, 2025, The Dawes Arboretum was awarded a grant by Meta’s New Albany Data Center as one of their Meta Data Center Community Action Grant recipients. Dawes was chosen due to its dedication to giving back to the community, empowering people to build strong and sustainable communities, and harnessing the power of technology for community benefits.

“It’s a powerful symbol of what’s possible when innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability come together with intention,” said Matthew Riddle, the Interim Director of Advancement, who accepted the grant on behalf of The Arboretum.

The main purpose of the grant is to expand the STEAM education for K through 12 students within the Licking County area, which Dawes plans to accomplish through increased ADA-accessible transportation for guests of all ages.

In partnership with Meta, Dawes plans to introduce an electric tram, with an unveiling scheduled for later this year. One of the goals of the electric tram is to enhance STEAM education for K-12 students in the Licking County area. Dawes plans to achieve this by providing more ADA-accessible transportation for guests of all ages. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels to stay up-to-date on future plans! Thank you to Meta’s New Albany Data Center for helping bring this vision to life.
