Do you know how much Beman Dawes spent on Lindale “Aagie” Concordia? Do you know about the five trails at Dutch Fork Wetlands? Have you ever been to its Hibiscus Corridor? You can immerse yourself in the nature of the marshy wetlands and more by participating in the Licking County Historical Alliance Passport Challenge!
There is still plenty of time to join this challenge which began on July 25 and will continue until December 1, 2026. It invites participants to visit 45 historical locations around Licking County, ranging from The Dawes Arboretum and the Licking County Historic Jail to the Granville Inn - and more.
When you participate in the challenge, you’ll get the opportunity to explore Dutch Fork Wetlands, one of the Arboretum’s areas that is free to the public year-round. The 70-acre area features six pools, a meadow, an observation deck, and a shelter house. It’s an area that provides a habitat for a variety of plants, birds, insects, and mammals.
If you’re interested in participating in the challenge, here’s a step-by-step guide of how you can!
1. Pick up a passport book!
You can do this through one of two ways. You can pick up a passport book at one of the participating locations for $10, or you can get one for free online! However, if you get your book online, you’ll have one extra location to visit in order to get your prize.
2. Visit all locations!
After you’ve picked up a passport book, head to the 45 locations. Explore each site to discover the answer to the question listed for that site in your physical or digital passport book. To start you off strong for visiting the challenge, here’s the address to visit our location: 6300 White Chapel Road SE in Heath.
3. Turn in your book!
After you have visited all locations and answered all of the questions, turn in your physical passport at the Licking County Historical Society, or email your digital passport book to info@lchsohio.org.
If you answer all 45 questions correctly, you’ll receive a commemorative keepsake. If you’re one of the first 250 individuals to win the challenge, you’ll receive a limited-edition Licking County Passport Challenge Coin.
