We’re thrilled to announce that a brand-new electric tram will soon be spotted at The Dawes Arboretum! Designed to enhance your experience, the tram will be sure to provide a quieter, greener and more comfortable ride through nature.
This battery-powered electric tram will offer smooth, eco-friendly transportation along the auto tour route and our scenic grounds, with features designed for both safety and inclusivity. Accessibility is a priority, thanks to a built-in wheelchair ramp that ensures all visitors feel welcome! The tram is also equipped with an upgraded speaker system—allowing our tour guides to share fun facts and stories about The Arboretum and its unique history.
Dawes is grateful to have been awarded a 2025 Meta Data Center Community Action Grant of $50,000 for the tram. Meta's grants are available to projects that address critical community needs by leveraging the power of technology for community benefit, empowering people to build strong, sustainable communities, and/or enhancing local science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) education.
Whether you're a first-time visitor or a longtime member, this new tram will be a wonderful addition to the Dawes experience. Scheduled to arrive in the fall of 2025, keep an eye out for more updates on our social media pages and website!
