Once the country home of The Arboretum co-founders Beman and Bertie Dawes, the Daweswood House is an amazing museum filled with 19th and early 20th century antiques, collectibles and photographs that reflect the lifestyle and collecting interests of the founding family. A tour of the house led by our highly knowledgeable historian will provide you with background on the family and some of their passions, which in turn sparked their desire to create The Arboretum.

Bud grafting is a specialized form of grafting that is useful on most deciduous shade trees and many shrubs. It represents the easiest and fastest method of grafting woody plants. Participants in this class will take home a small tray of bud–grafted plants to nurture and transplant following a successful take on the bud. Bud grafts will remain dormant through fall and winter and if alive, will push growth in spring. Details of their long term care will be discussed in this class as well.
