Once the country home of The Arboretum co-founders Beman and Bertie Dawes, the Daweswood House is an amazing museum filled with 19th and early 20th century antiques, collectibles and photographs that reflect the lifestyle and collecting interests of the founding family. A tour of the house led by our highly knowledgeable historian will provide you with background on the family and some of their passions, which in turn sparked their desire to create The Arboretum.

Join Arboretum Conifer Curator Jeff Bowman for a walk to experience some of the fabulous colors that winter has to offer. If you think that pine green rules the winter day out on the grounds, you’ll be surprised and delighted by the colors we find on this walk.9am – noon

Find out who’s flying around out there and what they’re looking for in a home. All participants will take home a bird house of their own—either an Eastern bluebird house or house wren box, depending on habitat—and all the know-how about how to install this special bird house or box.Saturday, February 21 – Saturday, March 7 Monday – Saturday, 10am – 4pm Sunday, 1 – 4pm Free Log CabinFrom treetop to tabletop, the history of syrup production is fascinating. The Maple Trail leads curious hikers from the Shelter House to the Log Cabin where they’ll find a crackling fire, lots of sweet-smelling steam and samples of syrup. Guide yourself down the Maple Trail or take part in a guided tour starting at the Shelter House on Saturdays at 2pm. Group tours are also available on weekdays as well.
